Artist Statement | Multi-media collage

My creative process varies when I start a new piece. I have such a strong connection to music, so most times the art is led by a song which then dictates the colors I will choose. Other times I may choose a color palette that leads me to a song, which then moves the art toward a certain look. I start by collecting paper with colors that will complement each other and layer them over paint, adding in texture, occasionally pen and ink, sometimes set in a pattern and almost always I incorporate lines and dots. There is never a set layout when beginning and I don’t know how it will all come together in the end, which to me is the most exciting part. As in music, there are so many variables and types, and I feel that is carried out in my work as well.
